Cody DeLong Workshop

This event was held for 3 days, starting Monday, July 27, 2009 and was held at 1360 Niels Hansen Lane, Lakeside, AZ. The start time was tbd.

Cody DeLong is renowned for his unique and original oil paintings where he captures a wonderful sense of light in his landscape paintings and beautiful atmosphere in his signature skyscapes and sunset paintings. Cody’s paintings have that WOW factor that takes them from the ordinary to the extraordinary.

A passionate student of art, Cody has studied at the Loveland academy of Fine Arts, as well as the Scottsdale Artists School, where in 2003 he was awarded a merit-based scholarship. In 2004, the Oil Painters of America, of which Cody is a member, selected him as that year’s Shirl Smithson Scholarship winner.

This year congratulations are in order to Cody on being the recipient of a $1000 Teacher's Scholarship from the Marilyn Sunderman Legacy Fund administered by the Sedona Arts Center, 2009. The applications were very competitive. The committee was impressed with the obvious dedication to teaching that was evident in Cody's application.

“I teach because for me, painting is life. It's my reason to be excited for each new day. It's a lifelong, never-ending challenge” states Cody. Based on his own studies and observations of master painters past and present, he has divided the painting process into six basic areas: Idea/Concept, Composition, Values, Drawing, Color, and Edges/Orchestration. Combining these “tools” with the artist’s own vision and sensitivity is a recipe for something truly exciting. This is some of what will be covered in the workshop.

On July 27-29 Cody DeLong will be in Lakeside/Pinetop for a 3 day workshop, sponsored by Northeastern Arizona Fine Arts Association (NEAFAA). It will be held at the Lakeside Parks and Recreation Bldg. behind City Hall (1360 Niels Hansen Lane) in Lakeside.

Cody is a gifted teacher and his classes are friendly and relaxed, yet very thorough. Cost of the workshop is $250; this is a tremendous bargain and a great opportunity for the White Mountain community to work with a master artist. Learn how to put that extra WOW! into your paintings.
