High Country Art Association Member Sandy Pendleton
Sandy Pendleton has always been fascinated by the beauty of light passing through colored glass. After a brief exploration of traditional stained glass techniques, she was introduced to kiln fired glass. The possibilities for experimentation became endless. As she explores the medium of glass and kiln fired techniques, Sandy has learned to control texture and manipulate the flow of glass. Her style is contemporary yet draws inspiration from the natural world. Her current work focuses on the impact of light on glass. Light may pass through the glass or be reflected. Looking closer at a piece of glass often reveals subtle depths, color combinations and interesting shadows. As light changes during the day, the appearance of the glass will change as well. Light gives glass life.
Sandy’s glass education is ongoing. She has taken classes from a number of nationally known glass artists. Sandy works from her home studios in the beautiful White Mountains in Pinetop, Arizona, and in Gold Canyon at the base of the Superstition Mountains.
